William Monahan Focusing On Las Vegas 2
He's giving the script a polishJust yesterday it had been reported that Departed scribe William Monahan was searching to reunite using the film's director Martin Scorsese for any remake of 1974 drama The Gambler. Now comes word of the geekier project on his schedule, with Monahan being introduced directly into work his Oscar-gathering miracle about the script for Las Vegas 2. While co-authors/company directors Robert Rodriguez and Frank Burns happen to be developing the follow up for a long time, it's needed to watch for Rodriguez' schedule to spread out up but for the funding to lock into place. Which was introduced at Comic-Disadvantage, together with the Austin auteur revealing a few of the material that'll be used: Frank has written a script for Las Vegas 2. It's known as A Dame to Kill For. We are following a structure from the first film with 3 tales along with a wrap-around. There are 2 new tales inside the first is known as The Lengthy Bad Evening. It may be shot as soon as this season - this is actually the nearest we have been and when it is going to happen, it is going to happen this season. Despite the fact that Burns may be the guy behind Las Vegas in the graphic novel form, it seems that both he and Rodriguez think the most recent draft may need Monahan's touch, so he's been hired to polish up. It's only some of the factor he's focusing on at this time either: Monahan seemed to be among the authors who done Tron Legacy director Frederick Kosinski's next pic, Horizons (formerly Oblivion), that is now searching for stars to star alongside Tom Cruise...Watch Movies Online For Free

Shirley Temple Rival Sybil Jason Dies at 83
Sybil Jason, a child actress who was Warner Bros.' futile answer to Shirley Temple at Fox in the Depression era, died Aug. 23 in Northridge, Calif., of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, The Washington Post reported. She was 83.our editor recommendsOBITUARIES With the dimpled Temple singing, dancing and drawing huge crowds to the box office, Warners studio mogul Jack Warner sought a similar talent and signed the 8-year-old in 1935. A native of Cape Town, South Africa, Jason was working on the British vaudeville circuit doing comic impressions of Greta Garbo and Maurice Chevalier. Jason starred in Little Big Shot (1935) with Robert Armstrong, in The Singing Kid (1936) opposite Al Jolson and in The Captain's Kid (1936) with Guy Kibbee, but she never approached Temple's overwhelming popularity. Other Warner films included two from 1937, The Great O'Malley and the short A Day at Santa Anita, filmed at the racetrack. Later, Jason signed with Fox and supported Temple in the Technicolor productions The Little Princess (1939) and The Blue Bird (1940), her final film. In My Fifteen Minutes: An Autobiography of a Child Star of the Golden Era of Hollywood, which was published in 2005, Jason wrote that Temple's mother Gertrude made sure that her daughter's rival would not work again. However, Jason and Temple stayed friends in the ensuing decades. Survivors include a daughter, Toni Rossi, and a grandson. Related Topics Obituaries

Disney Pulls Up The Lone Ranger's Reins
Hi-No, Silver? If Disney's planned film of The Lone Ranger were a horse, it would have just stopped abruptly at a jump and thrown its rider - in this case, a weird combination figure of director Gore Verbinski and star Johnny Depp - flying. Because the Mouse House has just shut down production on the movie. Deadline reports that the decision was apparently made because the budget had been creeping up to around $250 million, which seems like an awful lot of dosh to be spending on a movie based on an old TV show, even given the people involved in making it. Though Depp and Verbinski have been part of some of Disney's biggest hits - three of the Pirates movies together, with Depp also appearing in the fourth and Alice in Wonderland - it seems like the even the big studios are playing it cautiously when considering big gambles these days. Since Disney already has the expensive likes of John Carter and Oz: The Great and Powerful in various stages along the pipeline and decided to put the brakes on Lone Ranger while it was still getting set to shoot. The studio's executives will likely still want to try to get it made (especially since Depp has a pay or play deal that means he gets his cash either way) but the budget will need to shrink first and there's now a big doubt whether the movie will make its planned 2012 release date. But given that the US slot would have seen it up against the first Hobbit film, that might be a blessing. But after Ron Howard's Dark Tower and Guillermo del Toro's At The Mountains of Madness, it's just one more sign that no project, even a seemingly guaranteed blockbuster with big names and reliable filmmakers behind it, is safe from the axe...

Oprah Reveals New Motto, Admits It's '10 Times Harder' to Run OWN Than Talk Show
Discovery Oprah Winfrey has a new motto: "The next right decision." The former talk show host -- who faces a lawsuit from a New Jersey woman over one of her other mottos, "Own your power" -- revealed her new mantra in a Facebook post on Monday. PHOTOS: Hollywood's Top Earners She says she "spent my first full week at OWN merging new staff with Harpo folks. Alignment is the first step in getting anything to work. We all had a great week. Although if you saw my tweet, you noticed I could use some better office furniture." She says they're also focusing on Rosie O'Donnell's new talk show for fall. "I watched in awe this past Friday as she sat in a room full of critics, (Television Critics Association) and made them actually LOL," she wrote. Winfrey also discussed a Twitter follower asking her if she was "frazzled" by OWN's performance so far. The network, which launched on Jan. 1, has struggled in ratings and faced some executive turnover. PHOTOS: Oprah Through the Years "Nope, not frazzled. And I have faith that if I do what I'm supposed to-allow it to serve my purpose, and you, the viewer-it will succeed," wrote Winfrey. "Everyone in the cable business told me it would take 3 years. Some said 5. I've been here a week." Oprah on OWN: 'We're Building Night By Night' (Exclusive) "Lorne Michaels, master creator/producer told me months ago, 'it won't start to come together until you're there,'" added Winfrey. "So I made myself CEO and now in the trenches with Erik [Logan] and Sheri [Salata] who've masterfully run Harpo, now also Presidents of OWN. We're uniting and building our team." PHOTOS: The 5 Best Clips From 'The Oprah Winfrey Show' But, Winfrey admits, "I will say this; it's 10 times harder than doing my daily show. Doing that show felt like breathing everyday. Now I'm in so many meetings I sometimes have to step out and catch a breath." She's not daunted. "But I see every challenge as an opportunity. So no shortage of opportunities here," she says. "I know the same is true for your life. My experience is a network, yours is whatever is calling you right now. Get clarity. Don't allow yourself to be overwhelmed. Don't be defeated by mistakes. Learn from them. We have a new motto..."The next right decision"...what is it?" She then signed off with "onward!" Oprah Winfrey
